Off Kolob Terrace Road, en route to the Kolob Reservoir, just beyond Lava Point, the road passes very close to a black cliff face. If we'd been there at sunrise (we were told), we'd have seen 20 California Condors, all captive raised, roosting in a tree. By 10, when we arrived, five were left, on the cliff side, about 20 - 30 meters from us. From time to time, a biologist would try to frighten them away - but they came back 3 times before giving up and soaring off to hunt for carrion. Wikipedia says there are about 150 wild Condors, so we saw about 3% of them.
